What is the Sega Saturn Shrine you ask? A fan made tribute site to Sega's second to last game console. The Saturn was way ahead of its time in terms of hardware and innovation which unfortunately led to its early demise. It was packing 2 CPU's, supported web browsing, playing games via modem to modem connection, and much more! Many of the features the Saturn offered just hadn't caught on yet unfortunately. Not to mention the hardware "under the hood" per se was very advanced at that time (Sega Saturn was released in 1994) and developers struggled to "wrap their heads around" the hardware and struggled to fully utilize it. Many game developers abandoned ship to develop for the Nintendo 64 and Sony Playstation as they were much easier to develop for given that the hardware was comparable to what most modern pc's of that time period had.
Sega Saturn Shrine aims to be much more than just a tribute or fan site, we plan to launch an online community for other Sega fans to meet up and and chat about their favorite Saturn games, trade games (NOT ISOS, distribution of copywritten games without written permission from the copyright holder(s) is illegal under US law). If people wish to exchange physical discs (original only) or homebrew that is perfectly fine, just do so AT YOUR OWN RISK, we at Sega Saturn Shrine are not responsible if you get scammed, someone links you elsewhere for downloading homebrew or some other tool and you get a virus. Proceed with caution.
We also plan on building a community where Netlink users can meet up and do some matchmaking for play modem to modem games together :).
